Clear terms for using Briefable.

Briefable is a connected AI operating assistant. It links to accounts you already use, including email, calendar, files and notes, and organises what is in them. This includes classifying messages, extracting tasks, preparing briefings and meeting context, and answering questions from your own knowledge sources.

Briefable is currently offered as early access. This means:

• Features may change, be added, or be withdrawn without notice
• The service may be unavailable, slow, or behave unexpectedly
• Bugs are expected, and we ask you to report them
• Data loss is not expected but is possible. Keep your own records of anything you cannot afford to lose
• We may contact you for feedback

Early access may be provided free of charge or at a reduced rate. We may end early access, change its terms, or move to a paid subscription with reasonable notice.

To use Briefable you must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a binding agreement.

You are responsible for:

• The accuracy of the information you provide
• Keeping your account credentials secure
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Telling us promptly at hello@briefable.co.nz if you believe your account has been compromised

Briefable only accesses services you explicitly connect, using the standard authorisation flows provided by Google, Microsoft and Notion.

By connecting a service, you confirm that:

• You are authorised to grant access to that account
• Where the account belongs to an employer or client, you have their permission to connect it
• You understand that Briefable will read content from that account to provide its features

You can disconnect any service at any time in Settings, or revoke access directly with the provider. Disconnecting stops further access immediately.

You must not use Briefable to:

• Break any law, or help anyone else to
• Access an account you are not authorised to access
• Store or process information you have no right to hold
• Attempt to breach, probe or circumvent our security measures
• Reverse engineer, decompile or extract the source code of the service
• Overload the service with automated requests, or resell access to it
• Generate content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes someone’s rights
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your connection to any organisation

We may suspend or close your account if you breach this section.

You acknowledge and accept that:

• Email classifications may be inaccurate, including marking an urgent message as low priority
• Briefings and summaries may omit important information
• Drafted replies may contain factual errors, wrong names, or inappropriate tone
• Answers drawn from your files or notes may be incomplete or misinterpreted
• Task extraction may miss tasks, or create ones that are not real
• Nothing Briefable produces constitutes legal, financial, tax, medical, employment or other professional advice

You must review AI output before relying on it or sending it to anyone. Briefable is built so that email drafts and published content pass through your review first, but that safeguard only works if you actually read them.

We are not responsible for the consequences of AI output you send, publish, or act on without checking.

You keep ownership of everything you put into Briefable and everything in the accounts you connect. We claim no rights over it.

You grant us a limited licence to process your content solely to provide the service. This includes storing it, sending it to our AI providers for processing, and displaying it back to you. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.

Briefable, including the software, design, brand and documentation, remains our property. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you.

You may use Briefable for your own business or personal purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from it.

Briefable is offered on the following tiers. Full inclusions are set out on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms.

All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST where applicable.

9.1 The free Briefable Account

The $0 Briefable Account requires no credit card. It reserves your account and place on the early-release list. It does not include the paid modules and may be subject to usage limits.

9.2 Free trial

When paid access opens, you may begin a 14-day free trial of a paid plan. Unless you tell us otherwise before the trial ends, the trial does not convert automatically into a paid subscription. We will ask you to choose.

9.3 Paid subscriptions

• Subscriptions renew automatically each month unless cancelled
• You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of your current billing period
• We do not provide refunds for partial periods unless required by law
• We will give at least 30 days’ notice before increasing prices
• Where a plan includes AI capacity limits, we will tell you when you approach them and discuss options rather than cutting off access without warning

9.4 Custom Build

The optional Publish and Analytics modules, and any Custom Build engagement, are scoped and quoted individually. Those engagements are governed by the quote and any separate agreement, which take precedence over this section where they conflict.

We aim to keep Briefable running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The service depends on third parties, including Supabase, Vercel, Google, Microsoft, Notion, Anthropic and others, and their outages will affect it.

We may suspend the service for maintenance, and will give notice where practical.

If you use Briefable for personal or domestic purposes, you have rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 that these terms do not limit or exclude.

If you use Briefable for business purposes, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, to the extent permitted by section 43 of that Act.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Briefable is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
• We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that AI output will be accurate
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost business, lost data, or reputational damage
• Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or NZ$100 if you have paid nothing

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Because Briefable is operated by a sole trader, there is no company shielding this liability. We have set these limits deliberately and they are a fundamental part of the basis on which the service is offered at its price.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from:

• Your breach of these terms
• Your unlawful use of the service
• Content you send, publish or act on using Briefable
• Your connection of accounts you were not authorised to connect

You may close your account at any time by emailing hello@briefable.co.nz . We will delete your data within 30 days.

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the service to you would expose us to legal risk. Where practical, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

We may discontinue Briefable entirely with at least 30 days’ notice, and will refund any prepaid fees for the unused period.

On termination, your right to use the service ends immediately. Sections 6, 7, 8, 12, 13 and 16 survive.

We may update these terms as the product changes. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Briefable after that date means you accept the change.

If you do not accept a change, close your account before it takes effect.

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction.

If a dispute arises, we ask that you contact us first at hello@briefable.co.nz so we can try to resolve it directly. Most problems can be sorted out that way.

If we cannot resolve it, and you are a consumer, you may be able to use the Disputes Tribunal for claims within its limits.
